MobileHow you sign up for Rakuten Mobile changes your point haul by 10,000+ points. The headliner is the Mikitani campaign — an official referral link from Rakuten's chairman that anyone can use, still paying around 14,000 points for switchers.
But perks carry conditions — like a 10-second call on Rakuten Link — and people drop them constantly. We signed up ourselves and logged everything from condition clearing to point crediting. For the network itself, see our main Rakuten Mobile review.

The ground rules in 30 seconds
- Switching (MNP) pays the most — more than new contracts
- The Mikitani campaign requires applying through its dedicated referral link
- The standard condition: activate, then a 10-second-plus call on Rakuten Link
- Points land later, not at sign-up (typically end of month two months after activation; often split)
- Rewards are mostly time-limited points — plan their spending before applying
Know the campaign types
The main campaigns as of this update (amounts and terms rotate — always check the official campaign pages before applying).
- The default combo: Mikitani campaign + a device bundle if you want hardware
- Referral-type campaigns usually don't stack with each other — pick one
| Campaign | Ballpark perk | Key point |
|---|---|---|
| Mikitani campaign | ~14,000P switch / ~11,000P new | Dedicated link; one line per contractor |
| Family/friend referral | Both sides earn perks | An option if someone near you subscribes |
| Device bundles (iPhone etc.) | Extra points on eligible devices | Can stack with the Upgrade Program |
| Limited-time extras | Entry-based boosts | Enter before applying |
The Mikitani campaign, precisely
The biggest recurring payout, so get the terms exactly right (as of this update).
- An official campaign anyone can use — just apply via the dedicated referral link
- Ballpark: up to 14,000 points on switching (MNP), up to 11,000 on new contracts
- Conditions: activation plus a 10-second-plus Rakuten Link call (for applications from March 2026)
- Timing: around the end of the month two months after activation — not instant
- Cap: one line per contractor (the old multi-line coverage ended)
Classic drop patterns and the fixes
- Applied from the normal page, not the dedicated link → ineligible; verify the link first
- Activated but skipped the Rakuten Link call → condition unmet; make the 10-second call on day one
- Changed Rakuten ID or cancelled before crediting → can void the perk; hold steady until it lands
- Let time-limited points expire → spend early via Rakuten Pay, Ichiba, or the phone bill
- Applied for family through your own link repeatedly → one line per contractor; each family member applies under their own name
Smart ways to spend the points
Rewards skew time-limited, so deciding after they land risks expiry. Our spending routes:
- Apply them to the Rakuten Mobile bill (point-payment setting) — a fixed cost that reliably consumes them
- Rakuten Pay for konbini and drugstore spending
- Ichiba buy-arounds for essentials (Rakuten 24 etc.)
- Expiry differs per grant — always check the point-history page
Our sign-up checklist
- 1. Check current perks and terms on the official campaign page (assume amounts changed)
- 2. Using the Mikitani campaign? Open the dedicated link and apply from there
- 3. Switching? Confirm one-stop MNP support (no reservation number needed)
- 4. On activation day, complete the 10-second-plus Rakuten Link call
- 5. Calendar the crediting month; spend within the expiry once landed
အားသာချက်များ (ကြိုက်သည့်အချက်)

- Conditions (dedicated link, Link call) are droppable
- Crediting lags ~2 months and skews time-limited
- Mikitani campaign covers one line per contractor
- Amounts and terms revise fast — information ages quickly

မေးလေ့ရှိသောမေးခွန်းများ
What is the Mikitani campaign? Is it legit?
An official campaign using a referral link from Rakuten chairman Mikitani — open to everyone and entirely legitimate. Ballpark rewards run up to ~14,000 points for switchers and ~11,000 for new contracts; amounts and terms change, so check officially before applying.
When do campaign points arrive?
Later, not at sign-up. The Mikitani campaign's guide is the end of the month two months after activation, and some campaigns split the grants. Keep your Rakuten ID and the line active until crediting.
What is the Rakuten Link call condition?
Most campaigns require a 10-second-plus call from the Rakuten Link app (mandatory for Mikitani applications from March 2026). Activation alone doesn't qualify — place a real call of 10+ seconds on activation day to be safe.
Switching or new contract — which pays more?
Switching (MNP): ~14,000 points vs ~11,000 for new under the Mikitani guide. If you can port in from another carrier, MNP is the default move.
Do campaigns stack?
Depends on the pair. The Mikitani campaign can sometimes combine with device-purchase perks, while referral-type campaigns generally exclude each other. Stacking rules are stated on each terms page — check before applying.
